The ghost of the Christmas past...

A little bit of Headless history:

More than 3 years ago we made a teaser for what would be Headless´ first project “The strange case of dad´s missing head”. It was our first piece as Headless (hence the name of the studio) and we did it with much love and the help of our regulars Julien Bizat and Pablo Navarro.

That was more than 3 years ago! Oh boy, we suddenly got dizzy…

The project still moving around trying to find some finance and although we have really cool people involved and everyone seems to respond positively, these days is not obvious to produce a movie.

But it´s not time for tears now! It´s Christmas and we thought “what the heck!” it´s about time to blow the dust covering it and show it to the world as a sort of end of the year gift to all the nice people that write us to tell us amazing things and all the friends that support us.

Ok, we admit it, It´s been way too long since last time we posted anything. Good news is we´ve been very busy working; bad news we can´t show anything yet but we promise that when the time comes we´ll be happy to share with you all the new material.

We thought perhaps was the perfect time to share some old work. We know it´s lame but at the same time we have tons of art research from “Nocturna” that we never had the chance to show. The movie came out in 2007 and as only a hand full of people watched it (that includes our families) maybe all this material comes as new to some.

We directed and art directed the movie and as always we had Julien Bizat making the character design look good.

Hi there,

we're back from L.A!

CTNexpo was a really really cool event. Even if we didn't get to attend as many panels as we'd have liked to it was great just to hang around and share thoughts with professionals and students alike. We got to meet some amazing talent which is always both a an inspiring and a humbling experience. All in all, it was great to have this kind of break, and everyone seemed really nice and everything ; ...a little too nice indeed, now it makes it even harder to go back to real life! mpfffff

So, anyway, here's a little teaser trailer for yet another unproduced film from Headless Productions!... (It's not our fault, we're really trying to get these things made, it just takes sooo long). As always we had the magic hands of Julien Bizat and Maël Gourmelen for the animation. They´re the best!

We screened this at our panel and it was very nice to be able to get the audience reaction- thanks to everyone who attended btw!- now , for everyone else...

Sorry, not many updates lately. We´ve been pretty busy at work finishing some stuff and getting ready for the CTNEXPO.
In a matter of days, we'll be flying to L.A to participate in what is likely to become the animation event of the year. From friday 19th to sunday 21st we'll have a chance to meet friends and get to hang around some of the coolest names in the world of animation.

We´ll also be the subject of one of the panels “20/20 Vision with Headless Productions” moderated by no other than Jerry Beck himself. This is tentatively scheduled for Friday 19th at 4:30 PM. So if you’re attending the expo please feel free to come by and ask as many embarrassing questions as you want- We’ll be talking all things Headless and showing bits and pieces of the stuff we do, with an exclusive teaser premiere of our latest project.

just a quick bit of shameless self promotion. Headless was included on Variety's “Tomorrow's Toon Talent” article. Feels kind of weird to see our name there amongst such a talented bunch; and sure, it's only someone's list and we know many who would deserve to be there much more than us; it's still great to be there though. It's taken a while, but after years trying to get into this "new" 3d thing, flat-brained as we are,... we finally figured it all out: Just find someone who really knows!

So, we've joined forces with our smart and talented friends at SIXBIRDS here in Barcelona to help us deal with our dimensional problem. We are developing our first 3d feature project together. It's called "NO PETS ALLOWED". We are currently working on development and finishing a first teaser. We just wanted to share a couple of stills.

Yep, ... we know what you must be thinking... another project?...are these guys ever going to actually produce something? Guess we'll just have to keep working, and keep our fingers crossed!

Some feedback

Hi, it's been a crazy internet week for us. We didn't expect to have so much traffic on the site. It's great that so many people got to see the reel and leave feedback, either here, by email or on the vimeo site where the reel is hosted. After working on our stuff for so long now, we're just glad to see that some people other than us actually likes it! A little encouragement is always welcome, really.

There were some comments asking about the state of the productions shown on the reel. Actually, of those, only Nocturna has been produced and released. That was done for a spanish production company, before Headless, and it had very poor distribution, so if you're not living in Spain or France it's very likely you never had a chance to see it. As for the other projects, they are still at different stages in development or looking for financing- it's all kind of a slow, painful process, but things are shaping up little by little. We set up this studio to be able to focus on our own projects and try to keep a little more control on them, so even if it takes some time we think it's worth; hope we'll get there somehow, sooner or later.

With so many people watching the reel now, we thought it's only fair that we should let everyone know it was not only us making this. We are a very small studio indeed- only three of us working here actually, so we often have some artists collaborating with us. That is just great, cause they are some of the awesomest animators we could think of; Mr Julien Bizat, Pablo Navarro and Mael Gourmelen.
